Riwayah News
Riwayah News is an independent editorial platform covering politics, policy, media, and society. Our work is grounded in clarity, restraint, and context. We aim to explain what is happening, why it matters, and what is often overlooked.
This policy outlines how we report, edit, and publish.
1. Editorial Independence
Riwayah News operates independently of political parties, governments, corporations, and advocacy groups.
Editorial decisions are made by the editorial desk without influence from advertisers, donors, or external stakeholders. Financial or institutional considerations do not determine coverage or framing.
2. Scope of Coverage
We publish work across four primary sections:
- News: Verified reporting on current events.
- World: International developments with relevance beyond headlines.
- Explainers: Context-driven pieces that clarify complex issues.
- Opinion: Clearly labeled commentary grounded in argument and evidence.
We prioritize substance over speed and context over virality.
3. Accuracy and Verification
Accuracy is central to our work.
- All factual claims must be supported by reliable sources.
- Anonymous sources are used only when necessary and with editorial approval.
- Errors, when identified, are corrected promptly and transparently.
We distinguish clearly between verified information, analysis, and opinion.
4. Corrections and Updates
If a factual error is identified after publication, we update the article and note the correction at the bottom of the piece.
Substantive updates are time-stamped. Silent corrections are avoided.
Readers may report errors by contacting the editorial desk.
See our Corrections Policy for details on how updates are handled.
5. Opinion and Commentary
Opinion pieces reflect the views of their authors, not necessarily those of Riwayah News.
We publish opinion that is:
- Informed
- Coherent
- Argued in good faith
Personal attacks, incitement, and unsubstantiated claims are not accepted.
6. Conflicts of Interest
Contributors must disclose any financial, professional, or personal interests that may reasonably be perceived to influence their work.
Failure to disclose conflicts may result in rejection or removal of content.
7. Ethical Standards
Riwayah News does not publish:
- Hate speech or incitement to violence
- Disinformation presented as fact
- Plagiarized content
- Content designed solely to mislead or provoke outrage
We respect privacy and avoid unnecessary harm, particularly in reporting involving vulnerable individuals or communities.
8. Use of Sources and Attribution
We credit original reporting and primary sources wherever possible.
Aggregation is limited and clearly attributed. We do not rewrite others’ work without adding original reporting, analysis, or context.
9. Transparency
When editorial judgment is exercised in matters of sensitivity, uncertainty, or limitation, we aim to be transparent with readers about what is known, what is not, and why.
10. Accountability
Riwayah News is accountable to its readers.
We welcome reasoned critique and engagement. Editorial decisions may be explained, but not negotiated under pressure.
